Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch 2 - May 2013

Today my mission was to get the washing done & get in to my craft room to complete a layout challenge. Mission accomplished - got to love that!
I decided to have a go at the Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch number 2 for May. Here is a copy of the sketch....

I stayed fairly true to the sketch except the photo orientation. I used a photo of my son from a few years ago. I love this photo of him it shows his cheeky personality.
I used a mixture of Kaisercraft papers & collectables from the 75 cents range, Base Coat & Pickled Pear. They all go beautifully together.
A bit of distress inking, stamping using Kaiser Checker plate & crackle stamps. Tim Holtz cogs, Dye spray, pearl bling a mini paper bag & corrugated tag which hold the journal tag.
The journal tag reads...
I love that you are happy being you. You are comfortable in your own skin . Its not about what others think. Don't ever change that. Love Mum.

Wow where has time gone?

Hmmm...last post July 2012! Oh my goodness! Well life has been a little crazy mainly just with working, family stuff & girlfriends catch ups...AKA ladies days. Good for the soul I say. The Scrapbook Lady shop which I had been running a weekly layout class for has recently closed it doors. This was very sad, as I had a great group of regular ladies that attended my class.
Anyway, who knows what the future brings? I finally made some time today to do a layout for myself! I have also been to a class to make a start on my Art Journal with mixed media, so that's been a bit of fun! Photos to come soon. I feel so out of whack with the blogging thing & uploading photos etc...I don't know how some of you maintain a daily blog.

A suitcase using an A5 card...with Kaisercrafts' Check in range...

Popping in to share a cute little suitcase I made for Artfull Crafts using Kaisercrafts Check in range.I loved this range as soon as I saw it... that is the case for me for most of Kaisercrafts' ranges!
I also new as soon as I saw it that I was going to make a suitcase. You know how sometimes paper just screams a certain project at you. Gosh, I hope you know what I'm talking about...lol

I made the suitcase from an A5 card. I made the template up & it was extremely simple to come up with just with a ruler & pencil working with 1inch edges then going from there.
This for me is a purely decorative piece. It would be an ideal gift for someone going away as a farewell gift.

I used papers from the 6 1/2 inch paper pad to decorate the case. I inked all the edges to give it a finished & worn look. The handle was made from a scrap of the A5 card. I embellished with some pearls, a tag & a cute little pewter aeroplane charm I had in my stash.

I filled the suitcase with some collectables, some letters, maps & boarding passes etc from the paper pad, a little folder I cut using a die for the itinerary, some flowers, a cameo, a shell, some ribbon,a stamped camera, a key, a coin. Basically lots of little bits & pieces - to make it look like a traveller has collected treasures along the way.

First time published in Australian Scrapbooking Memories magazine...

Hi there. I thought I would share my exciting news. I have had my 1st ever item published in Australian Scrapbooking Memories.

This is the front cover of the issue I have been published in. It is this months - July 2012 Vol 14 No 10.
My project is on Pages 65 & 66.
It is a OTP project that I made last year, a cute little school back pack & mini paper bag album which fits inside the bag. I used Kaisercrafts Class of 87 range.

Echo Park Sweet Day altered tags...

Hi there. I thought I'd share my recent project I made for Artfull Crafts using Echo Parks' Sweet Day collection. It is such pretty range.

I have used papers from the paper pack & lots of bits n pieces from the sticker sheets. I inked all the edges for definition, used foam tape to layer, buttons, bling, ribbons, twine & my sizzix envelope die.

Some Kaisercraft Goodness....

Hi there. I thought I'd do a catch up post & preview a few projects I made recently. We have not long got back from a fantastic two week holiday in the absolutely beautiful Port Douglas. We had a great time, relaxing, sight seeing, eating out & just having FUN as a family. However - I was itching to get in to my craft room when I returned home, as I hadn't touched paper in two weeks!

So here are a few projects I managed to get done...

A shadow box frame, using Kaisercrafts' Fine & Sunny range. I really love this range & it was so much fun to work with. It is really perfect for this type of project where you create layers of dimension.

A step card using Kaisercrafts' Technologic range...another really fun range to work with! Great for Boys!

A layout using Kaisercrafts' Charlottes Dream.  Lots of beautiful layers, inking, distressing.  Dont you love those beautiful ribbon roses? This photo was of my daughter at her grade 6 graduation, the smirk on her face is due to the fact that she may laugh at any minute as she realised her Dad was taking photos of her from the audience. I created this layout for my DT post over at Artfull Crafts - you can see the full post & details on the products here.
